Born of Gonjaland.
Built for Gonjaland.
A community-driven non-profit transforming education across all seven districts of Ghana's Savannah Region — through partnership, not charity.
We find brilliance where the world isn't looking.
The Gonjaland Stars Academic Excellence Program is the first structured, year-round, region-wide platform built specifically for the academic excellence of Gonjaland's students. We exist to find brilliant students who would otherwise go unseen, recognize them publicly, connect them to mentorship, and — from Year 3 onward — carry them forward through a dedicated scholarship fund.
The Savannah Region has Ghana's lowest adult literacy rate and a multidimensional poverty rate well above the national average. Yet brilliance is born here every year. Children are sitting in classrooms in Damongo, Salaga, Buipe, Daboya, Bole, Sawla, and Kpalbe doing work that would astonish you if anyone saw it.
Our job is to make sure someone is looking.
Three things we will never compromise on.
Every programme we run sets a standard that students, teachers, and the community can be proud of. We refuse to settle for "good enough for Gonjaland." Brilliance here looks like brilliance anywhere.
We work alongside communities, not from the outside. Every programme is community-consulted, locally led, and measured in lives changed. Sons and daughters of Gonjaland built G-SAEP for the children of Gonjaland.
Annual external audit from Year 1. Public Annual Report within four months of each year's close. Every cedi traceable. Sponsors and the wider public deserve to see exactly where the work goes.
What we set out to do.
Six concrete commitments that shape every programme, partnership, and pound of effort.
Organize annual Quiz Competitions, Spelling Bees, Essay Writing, and Debate competitions for primary, JHS, and SHS students across all Gonjaland districts.
Facilitate Motivational Speech programs connecting students directly with successful Gonjaland professionals from across Ghana and the diaspora.
Identify and reward academic excellence through trophies, medals, certificates, scholarships, and public recognition — building a culture where being smart is celebrated.
Partner with the Ghana Education Service, all six District Assemblies, NGOs active in Northern Ghana, and corporate organizations to strengthen education in Gonjaland.
Establish the Gonjaland Stars Scholarship Fund to support outstanding students in accessing higher education — addressing the financial barrier directly.
Document and publish the academic progress and achievements of Gonjaland students for public awareness, policy advocacy, and inspiration for the next cohort.
One classroom can change a region.
G-SAEP was founded by Iddrisu Fuseini, a son of Bole now based in Damongo. The organization was registered with Ghana's Registrar General's Department in 2026 (TIN: 202605135641169) as a Company Limited by Guarantee, with a written Constitution and an advisory board being constituted from across the region and the diaspora.
The work began with a simple observation: every year, Gonjaland produces children who could compete with anyone in the country. Most of them are never seen. G-SAEP exists to change that — not by sending help from outside, but by building structures here that find brilliance, recognize it publicly, and carry it forward.
The people behind the programme.
A core staff, an advisory board, school liaisons in every district, and a network of volunteers — all working toward the same purpose.
Seven districts. One region.
G-SAEP serves all seven districts of Gonjaland in Ghana's Savannah Region. Year 1 launches in three pilot districts, expanding to all seven by Year 2.
